The Redwoods
I’m standing in the midst of the giants, it’s quiet and the only sounds are our footsteps and camera shutters. Amazingly no other people are around, we somehow timed our stop just right. I can hear the occasional sound of a car going by on 199, the wind is blowing through the trees a bit, and a bird loudly calls every once in a while. It’s cool in the shade of the trees, sunlight filters through, so much cooler than at home, which is why we made the day trip. The trees are majestic, every time I see them I can’t quite believe how large they are or how long they’ve been standing there. We slowly walk through, taking photos and enjoying the quiet. I’m grateful, grateful this place is within a few hours drive and that we got to be there mostly alone with the old giants.
